Karnal, August 30
In a surprise move, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that he would contest the upcoming assembly elections from both Ladwa and Karnal seats. This declaration came during a ‘Jan Ashirwad’ rally in Karnal city on Friday evening, contradicting party president Mohan Lal Badoli’s earlier claim that Saini would only contest from Ladwa.
Saini expressed his affection for the people of Karnal and acknowledged their support, stating, “I will be contesting the election from Karnal. There is no need for any concern.” He emphasised that Karnal would be his battleground.
When questioned about ED’s action against former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Saini replied that ED was carrying out its duties against those involved in corruption, and the actions were in accordance with court directives.
Regarding former MP Simranjeet Singh Mann’s derogatory remarks against BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, Saini advised restraint in language, and said, “There should be decorum in speech.”
The ‘Jan Ashirwad’ rally showcased the strength of ticket aspirants and was initially started by CM Saini, who joined it midway. The rally commenced from Raghunath Colony road and concluded at the Old Vegetable market. He was welcomed at various places along the route.
