Clerical staff protest over pay hike in Karnal today
Sirsa, July 6
Clerical employees under the banner of the Clerical Association Welfare Society, Haryana, will hold a state state-wide protest and march towards the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday.
The employees are demanding a salary scale of Rs 35,400 (increased from Rs 21,700) for clerks and stenographers. Association president Baljeet Joon stated that they had written to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini requesting a meeting to discuss their demands but received no concrete response.
State general secretary of the association Satish Kumar Dhaka said the government failed to honour a previous agreement made with the then Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on August 15 last year, regarding strike days. This has caused widespread discontent among clerical employees across various departments, boards, municipalities and universities.
Employees from all districts will assemble in Karnal on July 7 to protest the government’s breach of promises and neglect of their demands. They will march towards the Chief Minister’s residence and if their demands are not met, further action will be announced.
Association district president Sahil Bagri said clerical staff from Sirsa will participate in the protest, with arrangements made for their participation.
