Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has claimed that the BJP government in the state made several promises but fulfilled only a few. “Under BJP rule, health services are struggling for treatment. In the state, 42 per cent of doctors and other staff positions are vacant. There are neither doctors nor medicines in hospitals,” she said.

“Treatment in private hospitals is expensive and the Ayushman card, which the government boasts about, is not accepted by private doctors,” she said. In a statement to the media, she said, “Even state medical colleges neither have a permanent director nor a medical superintendent.”

The Health Department was not serious about infrastructure, human resources, medicines, and equipment, she alleged, adding that the Civil Hospitals had become mere referral centres.
