The Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG), has decided to construct and repair the internal roads of Sector 46. Most of the work had been pending for two years.

These roads had got damaged in the rains over the past couple of years, causing inconvenience to commuters and locals.

MCG officials said the civic body had sanctioned a sum of Rs 2.67 crore for the construction and repair of the sector’s internal roads, which are in a poor condition.

MCG Chief Engineer Manoj Kumar said the engineering wing had already prepared a work plan and placed two separate tenders for these works.

The civic body had sanctioned Rs 2.28 crore for the construction of 18-m roads and Rs 70 lakh for 10-m roads in 2022 after receiving repeated complaints about the dilapidated condition of the roads, which were constructed in 2017. The construction began in time but the contractor left the work mid-way. Since then, the locals were running from pillar to post to get these constructed and repaired, but the MCG took two years to accept their demands.

In the meantime, this year’s rainfall in the monsoon period also damaged most of the roads in this sector, including the ones that were partially constructed or repaired in 2022.

The engineering wing of the corporation has now planned to do the remaining work on the roads, left in-between in 2022, at a cost of Rs 1.30 crore at the risk and cost of the

previous contractor.

Along with this, the re-carpeting of 10-m internal roads of Sector 46 will also be done at a cost of Rs 1.37 crore. The tenders for these two works have been floated by the civic body. The last date for submission of bids is December 26, after which, the works will be awarded to the eligible construction companies.
