Under the ‘Swachhata hi Sewa Pakhwada’, a team of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), carried out a cleanliness drive in Ward 16 and 19 on Wednesday.

Besides, an awareness campaign was also held at the vegetable market in Yamunanagar to make vendors and shopkeepers aware about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.

Chief Sanitary Inspector Sunil Dutt said on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha, the MCYJ was carrying out a special cleanliness drive and awareness campaign in the MCYJ area under the ‘Swachhata hi Sewa Pakhwada’ to get a better ranking in Swachh survey-2024. He added that under the drive, cleanliness was done in vegetable markets in Ward 16, on Jagadhri Workshop Road and at several colonies and public places in Ward 19.

The team led by Sunil Dutt told the people about how to put garbage in the vehicles of the MCYJ coming door to door to collect garbage.

The team appealed to the people not to throw garbage in the open, not to use single-use plastic and polythene to protect the environment.

Sunil Dutt further said the ‘Swachhata hi Seva Pakhwada’ was being held from September 17 to October 2.

“Under the programme, cleanliness drive is being conducted in every colony and every village of all wards of the MCYJ.” said Dutt.

He said the team of the MCYJ conducted cleanliness work on all streets, in parks and public places of these Wards 16 and 19.He further said the waste was removed from the drains and sewers.

He also instructed the vendors of the vegetable market situated in front of ITI and the shopkeepers of Jagadhri Workshop Road to keep separate dustbins for collecting wet and dry garbage.
