Chautalas return to regional politics after BJP snub

Members of the Chautala family, once seeking tickets from the BJP, have returned to their regional political roots with the INLD and the JJP. After being denied a BJP ticket from Rania, Ranjit Chautala has shifted his support to JJP candidate Digvijay Chautala in Dabwali. On the other hand, Aditya Chautala, a former BJP leader, filed his nomination from Dabwali on an INLD ticket on Monday.

Both Rania and Dabwali constituencies saw hopeful Chautala family members vying for BJP tickets. With the party showing interest in other candidates, these members are now seeking political refuge within their family parties, the INLD and JJP, to secure their political future.

During a march for Digvijay’s nomination on Tuesday, JJP president Ajay Chautala emphasised that Ranjit’s backing had strengthened the JJP’s position. Ajay also announced the JJP’s support for Ranjit in Rania, where he is running as an Independent.

On Monday, Aditya’s nomination was attended by key INLD leaders, including party chief OP Chautala. These elections have become a family feud as all key candidates belong to the Chautala family. Aditya represents the INLD, Digvijay is a JJP candidate and the Congress is fielding Amit Sihag, the current MLA.
