The authorities at Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS) have initiated measures to strengthen the security arrangements on the institution premises.

After restricting the entry of street vendors on the university campus, who sell unhygienic food to patients and their attendants, Vice Chancellor Dr HK Agarwal directed officials concerned to install high resolution close circuit television (CCTV) cameras at newly built entrance gate and other sensitive points on the university premises so as to keep a tab on the movement of unscrupulous elements.

“The OPD block, Trauma Centre, casualty and offices on the university premises are already under the CCTV camera surveillance. Some more sensitive points have been identified where cameras will be installed to keep a close watch on visitors and the movement of other persons. Main canteen and the parking lot near Ward No. 24 are among the places where cameras will be installed,” Dr Agarwal told The Tribune on Monday.

As per sources, since outsiders frequently visit main canteen of the PGIMS for buying medicines, food items, availing bank services and other purposes, so it has become necessary to bring the area under surveillance.

The VC inspected flats being built for Class III and IV employees on the campus and directed officials of the Public Health and Engineering Department to make potable water available there. He also asked power officials to install transformers keeping in view the future load.
