Yamunanagar: Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, in collaboration with the department of biotechnology and Microbiologist Society India, celebrated World Environment Health Day (WEHD). The theme for this year's celebration was "Environmental health: Creating resilient communities through disaster risk reduction and climate change mitigation and adaptation". Principal Dr Harinder Singh Kang inaugurated the eventand emphasised on the importance of environmental health in addressing the growing challenges posed by climate change. On the occasion, an intra-college poster-making competition was organised, where students from various departments showcased their creativity and awareness about key environmental challenges. Garvish from BCom final year, Pragya and Himani from MSc biotechnology first year and Aashish from BCom third year secured first, second and third prizes, respectively. TNS

Workshop on life skills

Kurukshetra: A five-day workshop on life skills commenced on Monday at Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, under the guidance of Urmila Panghal and Anju Chawla, the event coordinator. The workshop was organised by multiple departments and committees of the college. Upasana Ahuja, Principal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. She said that a total of 13 workshops were being held under themes like Enhancing Inner Potential, Self-Awareness Skills, Karate Training for Self-Defence, E-Resources through N-List, Indian Heritage, Culture and Human Rights, Punjabi Sabhyachar and Lokdhara, Vedic Sanskriti and Sanskrit Literature, First Aid and Home Nursing, Letter Writing, Computational Mathematics, Career Guidance and Placement Skills, Latest Trends in Technology and Entrepreneurial Skills for Start-ups.

Lecture on world literature

Hisar: A special lecture on the topic ‘Cross-Cultural Encounters and Global Imagination: Its Role in World Literature’ was organised by the Department of English and Foreign Languages, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. English professor Pramod Kumar Mehra was the keynote speaker of the lecture programme. The programme was presided over by the head of the department, Rakesh Bahamani.
