Campus notes: ‘Well-being & Happiness’ event
Karnal: During the special “Dheeksharambh” event for the newly enrolled students of academic year-2024, the ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, conducted a programme on the theme of “Wellbeing and Happiness”. Dr Nivedita Shreyans, a renowned educationist, Director of Youth Programmes at Heartfulness Institute, Hyderabad, and Associate Professor at Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PIMSR) highlighted the importance of dedicating quality time to oneself for rejuvenation, boosting creativity and unlocking hidden potential. She spoke about the benefits of practice of heartfulness meditation and inner engineering techniques. Dr Dheer Singh, Director and Vice-Chancellor of ICAR-NDRI, encouraged participants to recognise the transformative power of meditation in unlocking their full potential.
new Short-term course at NIT
Kurukshetra: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, has inaugurated a five-day online short-term course (STC) on “Recent Advances in Additive Manufacturing: Fundamental to Applications” on Wednesday. Prof Hari Singh, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT, Kurukshetra, inaugurated the event online. Over 70 participants registered for the online workshop from various states around the country. The online STC on Recent Advances in Additive Manufacturing would cover various aspects within the context of its industrial and academic utility. Prof Hari Singh said the objective of such a course will help to make our country self-reliant.
Road safety competition
Yamunanagar: Guru Nanak Khalsa College Yamunanagar organised an inter-school/college road safety quiz under the guidelines of the District Administration Office, District Transport Office, and the Nodal Officer from Government College, Chachrauli. As many as 180 students, comprising 60 teams, competed in the quiz. The competition was aimed at raising awareness about road safety and promoting safe driving practices among the youth. The officiating Principal of the college Dr Pratima Sharma highlighted that the initiative was an important step in educating the younger generation on road safety. A team of BA students — Aman, Aditya, and Vishesh — secured the first place. A team of Bharat, Simran, and Gourav Kamboj from MCom secured the second position, and team of Sarthak, Gurkirat and Paras from BCom stood third. Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar, president of the Governing Body and Managing Committee, was also present on the occasion.
