Campus notes: Top slot for RKSD College in quiz
Kaithal: BSc students of RKSD College, Kaithal, secured the first position at the district-level science quiz competition organised on Tuesday. Convener Shweta Garg led the college teams. The team comprising Mansi, Vibha and Jannat secured the first position. Five teams made it to the zonal level. College Principal Sanjay Goyal congratulated the students.
Fellowship for CUH teacher
Mahendragarh: Dr Namrata Dhaka, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, has been awarded the Har Gobind Khorana Innovative Young Biotechnologist Fellowship (IYBF) for 2023-24. The CUH Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, congratulated the faculty member on her achievement. Dr Namrata Dhaka is one of the nine faculty members selected across the country for the fellowship given by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. She has received the fellowship for her work in the field of Brassica juncea and Sorghum bicolour seed development.
Spot counselling on Sept 5
Mahendragarh: ISpot counseling for vacant seats in various undergraduate programmes for the academic session 2024-25 at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, will be organised in blended mode on September 5. The candidates who have registered for CUH can participate in the spot counselling.
Training programme on surgery
Hisar: A 10-day training programme began at the surgery department of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences on Monday. Inaugurating the programme, the director of human resources and management at the university, Dr Rajesh Khurana, said a good surgeon should be aware of the latest techniques and medicines in surgery and anesthesia. The dean of the veterinary college, Dr Gulshan Narang said the surgery department of the university had been a pioneer in diaphragmatic hernia and general anesthesia in buffaloes. Dr RN Chaudhary, head of the department of surgery and radiology, said 20 trainees from different states were participating in the 10-day training programme.
