Campus notes: PPT contest on drug awareness
Karnal: The drug and tobacco control cell, in collaboration with the NSS unit of Dyal Singh College, organised a Powerpoint Presentation (PPT) competition to raise awareness about drug abuse among students. The event commenced with a welcome address by Vivek Parkash, Nodal Officer of the drug and tobacco control cell. He underscored the importance of the initiative in fostering a drug-free environment and enhancing student awareness. Following this, Ashima Gakkhar, the principal, delivered a keynote speech, emphasising the critical need for students to remain drug-free and the significance of preventive education. 11 pupils selected for state c’ships
Rohtak: Eleven students of Indus Public School, Rohtak, have been selected for state-level competitions. Lakshita got selected in the under-19 team for shooting, Sirat in the under-17 badminton team, Aryan in the under-17 football team, Jhankar in under-17 taekwondo category, Vidhi in the under-17 hammer-throw category, Abhimanyu in the under-17 netball team, Manav in the under-17 cricket team, Dhruv in the under-17 swimming team, Akshita in the under-14 table-tennis team, Kritin in under-11 skating category and Mahika in the under-11 skating event. The school chairperson, Ekta Sindhu, and director principal Sushma Jha congratulated the students for their achievements.
IGU to hold convocation on Sept 5
Rewari: Indira Gandhi University here will organise its third convocation on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on September 5. Bandaru Dattatreya, Governor, will be the chief guest. Degrees and gold medals will be awarded to the students of academic sessions 2021-2023 and 2022-2024. PhD degrees will be awarded to eight research scholars, gold medals to 97 meritorious students and degrees to 1,350 other students.
