Campus Notes: Poster-making competition organised
Kurukshetra: To observe Anti-Ragging Awareness Week, a poster-making competition was organised by the anti-ragging cell of Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra. As many as 54 students from various departments of the college enthusiastically participated in this competition and highlighted the affects of ragging on the youth and society through their respective posters. Principal of the college, Dr Upasana Ahuja, appreciated the efforts of the participants. Addressing the students, she said students should not succumb to ragging in any form. There was no need to compromise with your dignity and self-respect, she told the students. To eliminate this evil, we all should perform our duties. Dr Arti Aggarwal, Dr Pooja Sharma and Asha Malik were present as the jury of the competition. First place was secured by Samakshi, second place by Nancy and Rupinder Kaur, while Amisha and Alisha secured the third position.
Anti-ragging awareness rally held
Mahendragarh: An awareness rally was organised at Central University of Haryana (CUH) under Anti-Ragging Awareness Week. Vice Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar flaged off the rally, which began from Academic Block-1 and covered all the academic administrative blocks and hostels. The rally was followed by a play, wherein students attempted to portray the impact of ragging on one's life in a theatrical way, mentioning the consequences of ragging. Students from various departments prepared posters and raised slogans related to the campaign. The convenor of the programme, Prof Pawan Kumar Maurya, said week-long events were being organised at the CUH. These events comprise of orientation programmes, rallies, plays and lectures etc.
Y’nagar pupils excel in ‘ideathon’
Yamunanagar: A team of students from Seth Jai Parkash Mukand Lal Institute of Engineering and Technology (JMIT) has secured third place in the state-level Ideathon Haryana competition. The team, led by Anshika Rani, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 11,000 during the event, which took place on August 12 at Parade Ground in Panchkula. The award was presented by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The Ideathon, organised by the Government of Haryana under the Haryana Skill Development Mission, aims to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. This year, the competition saw the participation of 13,485 individuals forming 10,887 teams from 22 districts across the state. Despite the fierce competition, the JMIT team impressed the judges with their innovative startup idea focused on revolutionising the music industry. The team comprised of Anshika Rani, Anisha and Dhruv Goel, all third-year students from the CSE and IT Departments. Ramesh Kumar, JMIT General Secretary, and Dr SK Garg, JMIT Director, praised the students for their dedication and hard work, highlighting the consistent support provided by the college faculty. They emphasised that the JMIT's commitment to providing top-notch facilities has led to numerous accolades in national and international hackathons over the years. CSE Department HoD Dr Gaurav Sharma; IT Department HoD Dr Vikas Juneja; Registrar Ankush Singla; and Dr Savita Khurana also extended their congratulations to the students on this significant achievement. Dr Savita Khurrana provided invaluable guidance and mentorship throughout the competition process.
Plantation drive at Sonepat varsity
Sonepat: Under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice Chancellor Sudesh launched a plantation campaign at Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya. VC Sudesh said all have to join the plantation campaign wholeheartedly for the betterment of the environment. She described the drive as the need of the hour in view of the environmental challenges being faced in the present times. VC Sudesh urged the students to plant at least one tree and take care of it. Officiating Registrar Prof Shweta Singh said this plantation campaign will also be run in the affiliated colleges of the varsity. Former Registrar of Kurukshetra University Prof Hawa Singh, Kamala Devi, Chief Warden Dr Suman Dalal, Director Public Relations Lt Colonel Anil Balhara and other members of the university community were present on the occasion.
