Campus notes: Media interaction programme
Rohtak: Maharshi Dayanand University's department of journalism and mass communication organised a media interaction programme. Experts professor Rabindranath Manukonda from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and professor Bandana Pandey from Gautam Buddh University, Noida, graced the occasion. Manukonda emphasised on the essential skills required for the media industry, stressing that media students should master written and verbal communication. He also highlighted the importance of staying updated on current events and social and economic changes. Additionally, he emphasised the need for the media students to be familiar with the latest technological developments. Pandey discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on society, citing benefits and risks such as cyberbullying, fake news, and disinformation. Professor Harish Kumar, head of the department, welcomed the guests and noted that the media industry and education landscape were changing. Assistant Professor Dr Naveen Kumar thanked the experts for their valuable time.
Guest lecture organised
Yamunanagar: A guest lecture was organized at TIMT, Yamunanagar, for final-year students of the BBA and MBA. The main topic of the lecture was "Entrepreneurship and various schemes for entrepreneurs". The distinguished guests for the event were Sunita Katyal, assistant director, MSME, and Anil Kumar, Industrial Extension Officer, MSME Yamuna Nagar. Katyal emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship in any country's economy and said entrepreneurship not only created new employment opportunities but also fostered economic development. She further explained that in the present times, the government had launched several schemes to support and encourage entrepreneurs. These schemes were designed not only for new entrepreneurs but also to assist established entrepreneurs. She also highlighted the importance of clear and impactful presentations when submitting proposals for the MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprises) projects. A well-prepared proposal helped the entrepreneurs effectively in conveying the significance of their ideas and projects. Dr Vikas Daryal, director of the institute, thanked the guests for sharing their valuable insights.
11 selected for weightlifting championship
Yamunanagar: Eleven players from the Small Khelo India Centre for Weightlifting affiliated to Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, have been selected to participate in the All-India Inter SAI Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship to be held at the Neta Ji Subhash Chandra Bose National Institute of Sports, Patiala. Out of the 11 selected athletes, eight are from Guru Nanak Khalsa College, while the remaining three athletes, representing the Small Khelo India Centre of the college, are from the school level. Officiating Principal Pratima Sharma appreciated the athletes' selection and lauded their hard work. Dr Bodhraj, dean of the department of physical education, along with Dr Ranjit Singh, head of the department, Dr Sanjay Vij, associate professor and coaches Surjit Singh and Sukhchain Singh also congratulated them. Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar, president of the governing body and managing committee of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, also congratulated the athletes and said Guru Nanak Khalsa College continueed to be at the forefront of nurturing young talent.
