Yamunanagar: Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, marked its presence at the Geeta Jayanti celebrations held at Dashera Ground, Yamunanagar. The celebration featured a display of talent and values, as the MLA of Yamunanagar, Ghanshyam Das Arora, was escorted by the NCC students. Additionally, a handicraft stall, organised by the students and faculty members of the college, was set up to exhibit a range of traditional and contemporary artwork. The stall garnered attention for its creativity and craftsmanship, and Ghanshyam Das Arora visited the stall and appreciated the dedication and artistic skills demonstrated by the participants. Dr Pratima Sharma, officiating Principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College stated that it is a moment of pride for us to be a part of such a significant cultural celebration. The event was attended by Dr Kiranpal Singh Virk, Dr Tilak Raj, Dr Rajinder Singh Vohra, Dr Payal Lamba, Dr Jagat Singh, Prof Jaspreet Singh, Prof Raju, Prof. Pooja, Ravita Saini, Gurcharan Singh and other faculty members. Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar, president of the Governing body and managing committee, expressed his thoughts and highlighted that their college was proud to have participated in such an event.

Fit India Week at Agrasen college

Yamunanagar: Staff and students of Maharaja Agrasen Mahavidyalaya, Jagadhri, participated in Prime Minister "Fit India Movement" by organising yoga, meditation, fun games and pledging to incorporate fitness activity and nutritious food in their daily routine. As per direction of the Centre and the UGC, Prof Hemraj Kaushish, head of physical education department has been made the nodal officer of the 'Fit India Week' which is being celebrated from December 6 to December 12 at the college in which incorporating the activities like yoga, meditation, fun games, dance, rope jumping and essay writing competition. For smooth organisation of the programme activity wise incharges have been made. In this series yoga, meditation, and fun games were organised. The programme was conducted under the leadership of Professor Hemraj Kaushish and presided over by the Principal of the college, Dr Karuna. The chief guest of the programme was Sub-Inspector of Haryana police Gurudayal Singh. The chief guest was welcomed by the college Principal.

Jindal varsity to start Arts courses

He was speaking at the launch of the four-year Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) to begin in August 2025 at OP Jindal Global University (JGU). "PPE students can become public-spirited and patriotic citizens who, as visionaries and change makers of tomorrow, will marshal their imaginative minds, humanistic convictions and capacity to innovate, not only to reconcile the tension between a puritan understanding of science and technology and an overly rosy conception of the humanities but also to help resolve some of our nations and our world's gravest crisis," said Dr Tharoor. Professor (Dr) C Raj Kumar, Founding Vice- Chancellor of OP Jindal Global University, welcomed the renowned author, public intellectual, politician and former international diplomat and said, "We are increasingly faced with a polarised world. When politics and philosophy are combined with the study of economics, we create the potential to humanise the understanding of economic problems and for institutions to have a better approach towards studying economics." Professor Kathleen A Modrowski, Dean of the Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, Professor R Sudarshan, Dean, Jindal School of Government and Public Policy OP Jindal Global University and Professor Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, OP Jindal Global University Registrar also spoke on the occasion.
