Yamunanagar: To promote rugby in educational institutions, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, hosted Rahul Bose, the renowned actor, activist, and president of the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU). Bose was accompanied by Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar, president Guru Nanak Khalsa Group of Educational Institutions, along with other members of the managing committee. The event was marked by an inspiring interaction between the students and the delegation. Bose interacted with the rugby players of the college and the management to chalk out the strategies to be followed for the implementation of the rugby in Yamunanagar and nearby regions. Dr Pratima Sharma, officiating principal and Dr Amit Joshi, director of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology and Management (GNKITM) welcomed the guests.

Career counselling held

Karnal: The career guidance placement cell, and internship cell, in collaboration with the alumni association of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, organised a career counselling programme, aiming at providing students with guidance about potential career paths and insights into the dynamics of the job market. Dr Ashima Gakhar, Principal, welcomed the distinguished speakers —Ashutosh Pandey, senior executive sales manager of HDFC Life, and Atul Gupta, director of Triumphant Institute of Management Education. Dr Devender Singh, incharge internship cell, introduced the theme of the programme. KMS Bath, president, alumni association, emphasised the significance of making informed career choices and encouraging students to explore a wide range of professional opportunities. Speakers shared their professional experiences, offering practical advice and strategies for navigating various career fields.

2-day classroom seminar organised

Kaithal: A two-day classroom seminar on a noted English author, Virginia Woolf, was organised by the Department of English. Seven students of MA English-III presented their papers on various topics based on the prescribed texts, “A Room of One’s Own” and “To the Lighthouse in Course XV,” and “Literature and Gender”. Jyoti gave her presentations on “A Room of One’s Own” as a feminist text, Komal on multiple point of views on “To the Lighthouse,” Khushi on the significance of the title “To the Lighthouse,” Komal on “Lily Briscoe’s Character Sketch,” and Anisha on “Symbolism and Technique in To the Lighthouse.” The convener of the seminar, Geeta Goyal, said the aim of the event was to discuss the role of Virginia Woolf as a writer, besides exploring the concept of feminism and its growth in a broader way. Principal Sanjay Goyal congratulated the department on the initiative by saying that such activities helped students in fostering critical thinking skills and analysing the text from multiple angles.
