Campus notes: Aarti shines in judo competition

IAarti, a student of physical education department of Indira Gandhi (PG) Mahila Mahavidyalay, Kaithal, brought laurels to the college by securing third position in the inter-collegiate judo competition. College principal Dr Aarti Garg said Aarti, a student of BA first year participated in the 52 kg weight category competition under the inter-collegiate judo (men and women) championship 2024-25 organised by Kurukshetra University Sports Complex. The organisers encouraged the student by providing a certificate. The president, governing body, Ram Bahadur Khurania, appreciated the excellent performance of the students and highlighted how the students of the college displayed their talent in other activities along with studies and bring laurels to the college. He also honoured the student by giving her an award. On the occasion, Shweta Tanwar, principal in-charge, evening session, Reena Gill, and Dr Deepa from the college staff were present.

Training programme organised

Yamunanagar: A one-day training programme on library software (KOHA and EBSCO) was organised by the department of education of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar. In the training programme, librarian Ravita Saini gave information to students about the software used in the library and also told them how important the library software was. This programme was started by Dr Pratima Sharma, officiating principal of Guru Nanak Khalsa College. Dr Jagat Singh was also present on the occasion and motivated the students to use the software and move ahead in life. Ravita Saini was the coordinator of the workshop, augmenting the existing knowledge about the library software. The chairman of the managing committee of the college, Sardar Randeep Singh Johar, appreciated this programme and said such programmes should be organised on a regular basis, so that the students can become good citizens in the future by making maximum use of the library software in the digital age.

Lecture on mechanical engineering

Yamunanagar: A lecture was delivered at Seth jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, by Indranil Debnath, general manager, ISGEC, Yamunanagar, for students of mechanical engineering. DN Mishra, head training, ISGEC, was also present at the event. The event was organised by Kapil Sharma, head, mechanical engineering, and Amandeep Singh, training and placement officer, and witnessed participation of 80 students. Indranil focused on the needs of the industry, time management, team work, soft skills and communication. Anil Kumar, principal, congratulated the mechanical engineering department for the successful organisation of the event. NCC cadets Akshita and Anil of NIT-Kurukshetra secured top positions in inter-group ideas and innovation competition.

cadets bring laurels to NIT-K'shetra

Kurukshetra: National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets Akshita Kumari and Anil Vishnoi of 10 Haryana Battalion, Ambala Group, have brought laurels to NIT-Kurukshetra and their battalion by securing the top two positions in the inter-group ideas and innovation competition, organised at the NCC training academy, Ropar. Their innovative projects, showcasing creativity and technical expertise, have also been selected for presentation in the Republic Day Contingent, where they will be showcased in front of the Prime Minister's Scientific Adviser, highlighting their contribution to technological and scientific advancements. The felicitation ceremony was graced by Prof BV Ramana Reddy, Director, NIT-Kurukshetra, Brigadier Vikas Rai, Group Commander, Ambala Group and Lt Col Niteesh Kumar, Commanding Officer, 10 Haryana Battalion, Lt Shahbuddin, and NCC Officer Dr Nidhi Gupta. Prof BV Ramana Reddy lauded the cadets for their outstanding achievements and bringing honour to the institute and emphasised the importance of nurturing young minds to drive technological progress and national development.
