Kaithal: Eight students of the physical education department of RKSD College, Kaithal, secured medals in the swimming and water polo championships held at Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra. In the Water Polo Championship, the college bagged the overall third position. Prince (7 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze), Ashom (1 silver and 1 bronze ), Prince (1 silver), Vishal (1 silver), Deepu (1 bronze), Pankaj (1 Bronze), Aman (1 bronze) and Naveen Nain are the students who won these medals. On reaching the college, Principal Sanjay Goyal welcomed and commended these athletes in front the department of the college. He said although all these students brought laurels to the college, yet Prince Kumar deserved special praise because he alone had bagged a total of 11 medals. The head of the department, Gurdeep Bhola, and his colleagues guided them throughout their preparations.

Three-day book fair organised

Rohtak: The university will provide all support to promote book culture, boost reading habits in students and create an eco-system of book appreciation. This was stated by Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Prof.Rajbir Singh while inaugurating the MDU book fair. The three-day book fair is being organised under the aegis of Vivekanand library. Singh in his address said that book reading not only expanded knowledge, but made one humane. He said the university would organise a meet the author (s) and literature festival in future. He complimented the university librarian Dr Satish Malik and his team for the event. Malik delivered the welcome address, and briefed about the book fair. The guest of honour in the inaugural session, Prof Shashikant Sharma, HPU, Shimla, stressed on the importance of library and book culture in shaping careers of the youth. More than 60 publishing houses/book agencies are participating in this book fair.

Khalsa Students in KUK merit list

Karnal: Students from the MA Punjabi programme at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Karnal, have once again achieved success by securing multiple positions in Kurukshetra University's merit list. College Principal Prof Shashi Madan shared that five students from the second semester and two from the fourth semester earned places in the merit rankings. In the second semester, student Gulshan Lal achieved first place in the university with a score of 66 per cent. Arvind Kumar and Harvinder Singh both secured the sixth position with 61.8 per cent, while Jyoti ranked ninth with 60.6 per cent, and Jyoti Devi rounded out the top 10 with 60.2 per cent. To celebrate the achievement, the head of the college management committee, Sardar Kanwarjit Singh Prince, and vice chairperson Sardarni Kanwarpreet Kaur Virk welcomed the meritorious students with sweets and extended their best wishes for their future endeavours. Prof Shashi Madan also noted that the students from the fourth semester excelled with Navjot Kaur achieving sixth place in the university with 58.4 per cent and Navneet Neeru securing the 10th spot with 57.2 per cent.
