The Jagadhri Assembly constituency of Yamunanagar district is considered to be the stronghold of the BSP in Haryana, therefore the leaders of the party are leaving no stone unturned to save this political legacy of the party.

Several BSP leaders, including national coordinator Akash Anand, have attended several political programmes of the party in the Assembly constituency.

Now, BSP supremo Mayawati today addressed an election rally in Chhachhrauli town, a part of the Jagadhri Assembly constituency.

Three MLAs—Bishan Lal Saini from the Jagadhri Assembly constituency in 2000, Arjan Singh from the Chhachhrauli Assembly constituency (now Chhachhrauli Assembly is a part of the Jagadhri Assembly constituency) in 2005 and Akram Khan from the Jagadhri Assembly constituency in 2009 has been elected on the BSP ticket from here.

This time, the BSP has fielded Darshan Lal Khera as its candidate from Jagadhri Assembly constituency, making the contest interesting.

INLD-BSP alliance candidate from Jagadhri Assembly constituency Darshan Lal Khera addresses public in Jagadhri.

As per political observers, Khera may upset the poll mathematics of the BJP, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party in the Assembly constituency.

“BSP candidate Darshan Lal Khera can also win the seat. But if Khera fails to register a win and he gets votes in good numbers, he can upset the poll mathematics of the Congress and AAP. If there is less voting in favour of Khera, it can be damaging for the BJP,” said a political observer.

Besides the Jagadhri Assembly constituency, in other three Assembly constituencies —Sadhaura, Yamunanagar and Radaur of the district—the BSP has a good vote bank.

The BSP and INLD are in an alliance in Haryana and due to this alliance, the political equations are likely to change in other Assembly constituencies of the district as well.

INLD leader Dilbag Singh was elected as an MLA on the INLD ticket from the Yamunanagar Assembly segment in 2009. Dilbag Singh stood second in the Assembly election of 2019 by bagging 63,393 votes and he was defeated by BJP candidate Ghanshyam Dass Arora with a margin of only 1,455 votes.

In the election of 2024, Bilbag Singh is a candidate of the INLD-BSP from this Assembly constituency.

Disgruntled Congress leader Brijpal Chhappar joined the BSP when he was recently denied ticket by the Congress party.

Chhappar is a candidate of the INLD-BSP alliance and he is contesting election from the reserved Sadhaura Assembly segment posing a tough challenge for the Congress and BJP candidates.

Dharam Pal Tigra, state president of the BSP, is contesting the election on the INLD-BSP alliance ticket from the Radaur Assembly constituency giving a tough contest to the BJP and Congress candidates.
