Bribery case: ACB recovers diary, driver sent to judicial custody
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team on Monday produced the accused Kulbir, personal assistant (PA)-cum-driver of Sonia Aggarwal, vice-chairperson of the Haryana State Women Commission, in the court after one-day police remand.
The ACB recovered a ‘diary’ and a mobile phone following his disclosure, and the court has sent him to judicial custody.
The ACB arrested Aggarwal and Kulbir on Saturday for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a JBT teacher of Jind district.
As per sources, Kulbir was a YouTuber in Hisar district and had unsuccessfully contested the parliamentary poll as an Independent candidate. He was also attached with an NGO, and through his social media platform, came in contact with the commission's vice-chairperson, who appointed him as a driver.
However, his actual role and Aggarwal’s connivance is under investigation as he was reportedly playing the role of a tout. Vipin Kadyan, DSP, ACB (Sonepat), said Kulbir was working as a PA-cum-driver for Aggarwal, but he had not got any appointment letter, or salary so far.
