Blackbuck poaching case: After Siddiqui murder, fresh calls for Salman Khan to apologise

The blackbuck poaching case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan has resurfaced following the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, for which the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility. Social media is now abuzz with renewed calls for Salman Khan to apologise to the Bishnoi community, known for its deep reverence for the blackbuck. The community, with many members residing in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, and nearby areas, is globally renowned for its love of animals and nature.

Seek forgiveness at Mukam temple

Inderjeet Bishnoi, secretary of the Bishnoi Sabha and a resident of Dabwali, Sirsa, suggested that Salman Khan should visit “Mukam,” the Bishnoi community’s central temple, to offer an apology and resolve the long-standing issue. Speaking to The Tribune, Inderjeet proposed, “If Salman comes to Mukam with his security, the temple will be cleared to allow him to seek forgiveness privately and respectfully.” He emphasised that the Bishnoi community would welcome such a gesture, as they are widely known for their love of nature and wildlife, particularly the blackbuck.

Inderjeet also added that an apology from Salman would not diminish his stature, but instead, elevate his respect in the eyes of the Bishnoi community and the public at large.

BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh, Harnath Singh Yadav, has urged Salman Khan to apologise to the Bishnois.

In a tweet, Yadav highlighted the pain caused to them due to the blackbuck incident. He wrote, “The blackbuck is revered by the Bishnoi community as a deity, and you hunted and killed it, which hurt the feelings of the entire community. ”

He advised Salman, stating that mistakes happen, but taking the positive step of offering an apology would be a sign of respect. “You are a big actor, and many people in the country love and admire you. As a prominent public figure, it is your responsibility to respect the feelings of the community,” Yadav said. adding, “Apologising does not make a person smaller. Instead, it enhances their dignity.”
