BKU asks Nayab Singh Saini to fulfil election promise of hiking MSP of paddy
The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) has asked the caretaker Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to fulfil his promise of hiking the MSP of paddy.
Subhash Gurjar, district president of the BKU (Tikait group), said Saini had promised to hike the MSP of paddy to Rs 3,100 per quintal on coming to power in the state.
He said the people of the state had given full mandate to the BJP in recently concluded Assembly elections and Saini should fulfil his promise immediately as the paddy procurement season was going on in the state.
“During the Assembly election-2024, caretaker Chief Minister Nayab Saini promised that if the BJP is voted to power in Haryana for the third consecutive time, the MSP of paddy shall be increased to Rs 3,100 per quintal. At present, the MSP of paddy is Rs 2,350 per quintal (Rs ,2300 per quintal also of some varieties), but the government has made no change in these rates fulfilling the promises of a hike in the MSP of paddy,” said Subhash Gurjar, BKU district president.
According to information, BKU district president Subhash Gurjar today visited the grain market in Bilaspur and met the farmers. He also met Bilaspur SDM Jaspal Singh Gill and secretary of the market committee, Bilaspur, Suman Lata in their offices in Bilaspur. He thanked Saini for visiting the grain markets himself to take stock of the paddy procurement.
“Piles of paddy have accumulated in the grain markets due to slow lifting. The farmers are not finding space in the grain markets to unload their paddy crop and they are forced to put their produce even on roads,” said Subhash Gurjar. He said the government should fasten the lifting work so that the farmers don’t have to face any inconvenience in selling their paddy. He further said if the government failed to solve the problem of lifting of paddy soon, the BKU would be forced to take to the streets.
He said a delegation of the BKU led by him had visited the Radaur grain market yesterday to know about the problems being faced by the farmers. On the occasion, Subhash Sharma Sabilpur, Subhash Hartol, Jaswinder Azizpur, Balkar Basantiwala, Ramesh Ahadwala, sarpanch of Hartol Aman Kumar, Jasbir Ahadwala and others were present.
