The Ambala City constituency is witnessing an interesting battle with the BJP and Congress candidates locked in a direct contest.

The seat is being represented by two-time BJP MLA Aseem Goel, who is facing challenges from Congress candidate Nirmal Singh.

Besides these two, nine other candidates, including AAP’s Ketan Sharma, BSP’s Malkit Singh Bhanokheri, Aazad Samaj Party (Kashi Ram) candidate Parul Nagpal and Independent candidate Bhupinder, Mayur Nanda, Lalit Walia, Sachin Kumar, Satnam Singh and Sunil Dutt are testing their fates from Ambala City constituency.

Facing anti-incumbency, BJP’s Aseem Goel is campaigning aggressively and highlights the works done by the BJP government in the state.

While addressing public meetings, Assem says, “The Ambala City constituency was neglected under the regime of the Congress government, but under the BJP’s rule, a number of new projects have been started. The Civil Hospital is being upgraded, a new bus stand has been constructed while the railway station of the Ambala City is also being renovated. The road network has been strengthened while several other projects are in progress.”

“People of Haryana always prefer that they vote for the party that has the government in the Centre and it is a prime reason behind the state’s unprecedented development. There is a BJP government in the Centre and by forming the BJP government in Haryana, people can ensure smooth implementation of schemes of the central and state governments. People from other parties are joining us and we will win the seat with a comfortable margin,” he added.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Nirmal Singh, who has been facing factionalism in the party, is also confident of winning the seat for the party.

He says, “The BJP has failed to fulfill its promises and development came to a standstill under its rule. People don’t trust this party anymore and the BJP is just repeating the promises made by the Congress. We are getting a good response from the people of Ambala. People from the Indian National Lok Dal, Jannayak Janta Party and other parties are joining us. The Congress is going to win this seat.”

He says Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former Chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state chief Udai Bhan will address the people of Ambala on Monday and which will further boost our campaigning.

Meanwhile, the absence of Congress leaders who have been associated with senior leader Kumari Selja from the field is also causing troubles for Nirmal Singh.

On the condition of anonymity, a Congress leader said, “The absence of Kumari Selja from campaigning is being closely watched by people and a section of party workers is not happy with Nirmal’s daughter Chitra contesting election as Independent candidate against Congress candidate in Ambala Cantonment. Though, the party is in a comfortable position in Ambala City, these issues must be resolved to ensure smooth victory in the elections.”
