BJP’s Leela Ram warns Surjewala to ‘refrain from hooliganism’
Ahead of the Assembly elections in the state, the war of words has intensified in Kaithal as former MLA and BJP candidate Leela Ram has issued a warning to Congress leader Randeep Surjewala and his supporters for allegedly tearing the BJP’s posters.
Addressing a gathering in Kaithal in the presence of caretaker Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday, Ram warned Surjewala and his supporters to stay within their limits. “Aukat mai rehkar chunav lado, hum pyar se chunav ladenge. Koi gundagardi karega to humse bada gunda koi nahi (Contest the elections while staying in your limits; we will also contest the polls with love. If you indulge in hooliganism, know that there is no bigger goon than us.”
A video of his speech had gone viral on social media, wherein he was seen cautioning Surjewala and his supporters to refrain from such behaviour. He warned that if provoked, the BJP knew how to respond. “The Congress leaders should stop their tricks, or else we know how to appropriately respond to such behaviour,” he said.
The warning from Ram has escalated political rivalry in Kaithal, where Randeep Surjewala’s son Aditya Surjewala is contesting against the BJP candidate. Earlier, Surjewala had launched a sharp attack on the BJP government on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying, “The true face of the party has been exposed in the presence of the caretaker CM Nayab Singh Saini. This battle is between the BJP’s hooliganism and the Congress’love. That’s why this time, decency and love will win in Haryana, and the BJP’s dishonesty and hooliganism will be defeated.”
