BJP’s Karambir Kaul is Kaithal Zila Parishad chief
BJP leader and former Kaithal Zila Parishad vice-chairman Karambir Kaul has been elected unopposed as the chairman of the civic body, following the passing of a no-confidence motion against former chairman Deepak Malik.
Although two nominations were initially filed for the chairman's post, Dilbag’s nomination was rejected due to incomplete information, leaving Kaul as the sole candidate.
The no-confidence motion against Malik was passed on October 14. The process had faced delays due to a stay order by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the ongoing Haryana Assembly election schedule. Once cleared, the district administration moved swiftly to organise the election. Vivek Bharti, Deputy Commissioner of Kaithal, assigned the duty to conduct the election process to Kaithal SDM Ajay Singh.
Ritu Lather, Deputy CEO, Kaithal, confirmed Kaul’s unopposed election, saying that out of 21 members in the Zila Parishad, one member was already suspended and the remaining 20 were invited for the election process and 19 participated. “Two members filed nomination papers for the chairman's post, but one was rejected," said Lather.
The BJP leaders expressed happiness after getting the post of chairman and said Kaul, who previously served as the vice-chairman, would develop the rural areas in an inclusive manner.
