On his second day of campaigning in the state, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Congress state president Udai Bhan and Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda, took out a roadshow in Jhajjar’s Bahadurgarh town and addressed rallies in neighbouring Gohana and Sonepat.
He said bringing the party back to power was essential to save the Constitution and to safeguard the interests of the people as the BJP was attacking the Constitution and trying to end reservation for Dalits and backward classes.
Rahul claimed the BJP had made Haryana a centre of unemployment and took away approved projects like the rail coach factory to other states.
A considerable number of people gathered at Bahadurgarh town to have a glimpse of Rahul who waved the flag of the Congress while standing through the sunroof of his SUV.
Locals also presented him ‘pagri’ and welcomed him by showering flowers en route. He covered four segments of Sonepat — Kharkhoda, Sonepat, Ganaur and Gohana . Interestingly, farmers of Madina village in Sonepat presented him with rice from the paddy that was sown by Rahul in their field some months ago.
Relishes jalebi, chulha food
At Gohana, MP Deepender Hooda offered Matu Ram’s special jalebi to Rahul Gandhi and told him about the firing incident at Maturam’s shop for extortion of ~2 crore. Rahul promised a safe and secure atmosphere for all. He along with Deepender, Bajrang Punia and other leaders reached a house in Barwasni village and enjoyed food prepared on ‘chulha’.
