A ‘Run for Unity’ event was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from NDRI Chowk to the Baldi bypass in Karnal on Tuesday morning. Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand and Assandh MLA Yoginder Rana flagged off the event, in which several youths, athletes and residents participated to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The annual event takes place on ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) to honour Sardar Patel on October 31. On this day in 2015, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to organise the event in Sardar Patel’s memory for the unity and integrity of the country.

Both MLAs paid tribute to Sardar Patel by offering floral tributes. Addressing the gathering, Karnal MLA Anand emphasised the importance of incorporating the values of great leaders into the lives of people and praised Sardar Patel for uniting the nation, symbolising national integrity that the country respected till this date.

Assandh MLA Rana highlighted Patel’s role in setting a new direction for the country. Rana said Patel had earned the title of ‘Iron Man’ for his dedication to the national unity and patriotism. He played a crucial role in integrating the princely states, which laid the foundation of a united India.

He stressed that PM Modi had also called for celebrating Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, encouraging citizens to share Patel’s ideals on social media.
