Promises plots, houses for poor

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda promised 100 sq yd plots and two-room houses for the poor, SCs and OBCs, free treatment scheme up to Rs 25 lakh, pension of Rs 6,000 to the elderly and old pension scheme benefits to employees.

Addressing Guru Daksha Prajapati Maharaj Jayanti in Azad Nagar locality, which is part of Nalwa Assembly segment, Hooda alleged that the BJP was suffering from anti-SC and OBC mentality.

“This is the reason why BJP is eliminating permanent government jobs through privatisation and skill corporation. Along with this, the education system is being handed over to private hands by closing government schools. Reservation of SC-OBC will automatically end, if government jobs and government educational institutions are abolished,” he said.

Hooda said the Congress and backward society complement each other. “The Congress is out of power only when the Backward Classes move away from the Congress. When the Congress is out of power, the backward society has to bear the biggest loss because all other parties attack the rights of the Backward Classes,” he said.

“The BJP also targeted this segment when it came to power as the creamy layer ceiling was reduced from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 6 lakh to end the reservation of the Backward Class. Along with this, agricultural and salary income was also added to it. Whereas the Congress government had separated agricultural and salary income from creamy layer, so that the society could get the full benefit of reservation,” he said.

The former CM said the BJP increased the creamy layer ceiling back to Rs 8 lakh to get votes in the elections. “Why has the BJP not apologised till now for the anti-Backward Class decision? Due to this decision of the government, thousands of children from the Backward Classes were deprived of admission to MBBS, engineering and other courses and thousands of youth could not get government jobs in the past 7 years. Who will compensate for their loss?” he questioned.

“Not only this, this government has completely abolished the reservation of the SC-OBC by implementing Kaushal Rozgar Nigam. There is neither reservation, nor merit or transparency in this contract system of the BJP. Under this policy, all future recruitment will be done through the Kaushal Nigam and indirectly reservation will be abolished automatically. That is why 2 lakh permanent jobs are lying vacant in the state and a backlog of thousands of OBC posts has been created, but the BJP does not want to fill it,” he stated.

Hooda announced that after the formation of Congress government, this backlog will be cleared and permanent recruitment will be made on the vacant 2 lakh posts by giving the benefit of reservation. “All jobs will be given on the basis of merit by eliminating paper leak and recruitment mafia. The creamy layer limit will be increased from Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakh,” he promised.

Hooda also promised 100 sq yd plots and two-room houses for the poor, SCs and OBCs, free treatment scheme up to Rs 25 lakh, pension of Rs 6,000 to the elderly and old pension scheme benefits to employees.
