BJP fields kin of several leaders in Haryana Assembly election
Struggling with anti-incumbency, the BJP has allocated ticket to the relatives of politicians having dynastic roots in Haryana politics.
The party has fielded Shruti Choudhry, grand-daughter of former Chief Minister Bansi Lal, from the Tosham Assembly segment in Bhiwani district and retained Bhavya Bishnoi, grandson of former Chief minister Bhajan Lal, from the Adampur Assembly constituency in Hisar district. The party has also nominated Suneel Sangwan, son of former minister Satpal Sangwan, from the Dadri seat in Charkhi Dadri district.
Shruti, former Congress MP, along with her mother Kiran Choudhry, had recently joined the BJP after leaving the Congress. The BJP had nominated Kiran, who is Tosham MLA, as Rajya Sabha MP. Shruti will be fighting from Tosham, a traditional seat of Bansi Lal’s family.
While Bhavya renomination by the BJP was not a surprise. He had won the seat vacated by his father Kuldeep Bishnoi for the BJP in the byelection held in November 2022.
The party has also nominated Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh’s daughter Aarti Rao from Ateli in Mahendragarh district.
Meanwhile, sitting Hisar MLA Dr Kamal Gupta got the ticket for the third time in a row. He is a Cabinet minister at present. Savitri Jindal, chairperson of Jindal Industries, was also eyeing the seat.
