Rewari/Mahendragarh, June 22

Two BJP ministers—Banwari Lal and Om Prakash Yadav—suffered a setback in the municipal council/committee polls as party candidates faced debacle on their home turf. Both the ministers represent the Ahirwal region (Rewari and Mahendragarh) in the state Cabinet.

Considered loyalists of Union Minister Rao Inderjit, the leaders had pulled out all the stops to woo the voters. Lal’s candidate Shiv Narain was third in the Bawal Municipal Committee in Rewari while Yadav’s candidate Sangeeta lost by a huge margin for the chairperson’s post in Narnaul Municipal Council in Mahendragarh district.
