BJP appoints new dist working prez for Karnal
In the backdrop of several leaders having left the party in the last couple of days in Karnal, the BJP has appointed its district treasurer, Brij Gupta, as the working district president.
Gupta is the husband of former Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, who was denied a party ticket and expressed her dissatisfaction. However, she and her husband demonstrated their influence within the party by organising a large convention. Despite their grievances, they announced that they would not contest the election and would remain loyal to the party.
Sources said as the district president, Yogendra Rana, who is contesting the elections from the Assandh segment, Gupta has been appointed as district working president.
Party workers have welcomed the decision. Gupta urged the party workers to focus on the grassroots to strengthen the party.
He also expressed confidence about resolving internal differences, saying, “I will try my best to bring those who have left the party back into the fold.”
Gupta said BJP candidates Jagmohan Anand from Karnal, Yogendra Rana in Assandh, Harvinder Kalyan in Gharaunda, Ram Kumar Kashyap in Indri and Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi in Nilokheri would win with huge margins.
