Bhiwani residents protest blockage of sewerage
Residents of Rajiv Colony in Ward Number 3 in Bhiwani town staged a demonstration to highlight the problem of blocked sewerage in their area which has resulted in inundation of the main street.
Residents, mostly women, gathered at the main street and raised slogans against the administration alleging lackadaisical attitude of the authorities. They said that they had raised the matter with officials of the Public Health Engineering Department a number of times but nothing had been done to resolve the problem.
Satbir, a protester, said residents had been facing the problem of blocked sewerage near Rajiv Colony along the Gujrani Road in Ward 3 of the town. “The sewerage line has been blocked for the last three months. Due to this, dirty sewerage water gets accumulated in the street and local residents are facing a lot of problems,” he said.
Shakuntala alleged that the dirty sewerage water gets accumulated in the street which has also turned into a breeding ground for mosquitoes. “There is a fear of an outbreak of vector-borne disease due to unhygienic conditions in the vicinity,” she said, adding that they had raised the issue with the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department regarding this problem several times.
The residents expressed resentment against the department and said that if their problem was not resolved, they would be forced to block the road. An official of the PHED said that they had received the complaint and would resolve the issue soon.
