State Congress chief whip and sitting MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra from Rohtak, three-time MLA Shankuntla Khatak from Kalanaur and youth leader Balram Dangi from Meham filed their nomination papers in the presence of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today.

Hooda, a five-time MLA from the Garhi-Sampla Kiloi Assembly constituency, himself too filed his nomination papers in Sampla town.

Addressing the gathering in Rohtak city, Hooda said he had worked to ensure the overall development of Rohtak city when the people gave him the opportunity to lead the Congress government in the state from 2005 to 2014.

“During the Congress regime, we not only brought several prestigious educational institutes in Rohtak to develop it as an education hub but also constructed several new highways, carpeted all internal roads of the city, resolved waterlogging issues and provided other basic amenities to decongest traffic. Even, health services also saw improvement but the BJP did nothing in the past 10 years,” said Hooda.

Speaking on the occasion, Batra said the BJP had ruined Rohtak city in the past 10 years. “People are neither getting adequate potable water nor power. They are being forced to face the issues of waterlogging, sewer overflow, traffic jams etc. People are compelled to take rounds of government offices for property IDs and the PPP. We will rebuild Rohtak city on coming to power,” said Batra.

Meanwhile, Balram Dangi, son of former minister and veteran Congress leader Anand Singh Dangi, filed his nomination in Meham town where a public meeting was also organised.

Addressing the gathering, Hooda said the Congress would soon release its manifesto. “When the Congress government is formed, works like pension of Rs 6,000 to the elderly, LPG cylinder for Rs 500, 300 units of free electricity, free treatment of the poor, OPS to the employees, 2 lakh permanent recruitments and making temporary employees permanent will be done,” he assured.

The Former CM claimed that during the Congress tenure, the state became number one in development, prosperity and progress but in 10 years, the BJP had made this prosperous state number one in unemployment, inflation, crime, drugs and atrocities on Dalits.
