'Batoge toh lutoge': Tikait calls for farmers' unity as Dallewal's fast enters 21st day
As Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's fast-unto-death entered the 21st day, Samyukta Kisan Morcha leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday again called for unity of farmers' groups for a joint fight, saying “batoge toh lutoge”.
Tikait also expressed concern over Dallewal's health.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Tikait stressed that farmers' groups will have to “stick together” for a joint fight in support of their demands, saying “Batoge toh lutoge, sabko Ikkhate rehna padega”.
He felt that giving ‘Dilli Chalo’ call by individual outfits, won't bring in the desired result till all farmers' groups join hands and formulate a strategy.
“If we march separately, we will lose. Unity is essential. When the movement began 10 months ago, we called for everyone to join the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and act collectively. No separate calls to Delhi should be made. Until we unite, we should stay away from Delhi,” he said.
Tikait said that the government must take the decisions that are in the best interest of everyone. “We stand with the protesting farmers and will continue to support them in their demands,” he added.
Farmers under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are spearheading the 'Dilli Chalo’ march and have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 after their march to Delhi was stopped by security forces.
