Ban on celebratory firing, playing DJ after 10 pm in Sirsa district
District Magistrate (DM) Shantanu Sharma has issued orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita to ban celebratory firing during marriages and palying music by DJs after 10 pm at wedding palaces and hotels in Sirsa district.
The decision comes after several celebratory firing incidents in neighbouring districts led to deaths and injuries of attendees at marriages. The DM said such acts not only endangered lives and property of the public, but also disturbed peace. Playing loud DJ music during weddings and other events caused noise pollution, besides affecting well-being of others, he said.
As per new rules, banquet halls and hotel owners had been instructed to provide written assurances that no firearms would be used on their property premises during marriages and DJs would not play music after 10 pm.
Besides, owners were asked to install CCTV cameras with a recording capacity of at least 15 days and display warning signs about both restrictions at banquet halls and hotels. The DM emphasised that licensed firearm holders were permitted to keep weapons for safety purposes, but they could misuse these during celebrations, while putting others at risk. Violators of these rules would face strict legal action, the DJ added.
