ASI booked for selling impounded vehicle
The police have registered a case against an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Haryana Police, who allegedly sold a utility vehicle, which was impounded under the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act.
The accused was identified as ASI Jagjit Singh, who was looking after the disposal work of impounded vehicles at the Police Lines in Yamunanagar.
According to information, a case was registered under the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and the Gausamvardhan Act at the Bilaspur police station on December 23, 2018, and the police impounded a utility vehicle in connection with the case.
After the judgment from a court in this case, the vehicle was sent to the Police Lines, Yamunanagar, for its disposal.
Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram Punia recently formed a committee to find out about the current status of the vehicle and the committee handed over its inquiry report to the SP on September 30, 2024.
According to the report of the committee, Jagjit Singh sold the said vehicle illegally in February 2024. On the complaint of Rai Singh, SHO, Bilaspur police station, a case was registered against ASI Jagjit Singh at the City police station, Jagadhri, on September 30.
