Arya College clinches overall trophy at 47th zonal youth fest in Panipat

Arya (PG) College has created history by clinching the overall trophy for the 19th consecutive time in the 47th Zonal Youth Festival of Kurukshetra University held at SD (PG) College in Panipat.

The youth festival (Karnal Zone) concluded on Friday. As many as 2,000 students from 72 colleges participated in 42 disciplines in the three-day festival. SD (PG) College got the runner-up trophy.

The college management welcomed the overall champions on Saturday. President Surender Shingla, general secretary Kamal Kishor, Virender Shingla, Piyush Arya, principal Jagdish Gupta as well as all teachers and non-teaching staff members congratulated the winners.

President Shingla said it was a proud moment for students, teachers, non-teaching employees and management that their students showcased their strength with full enthusiasm in the festival and clinching the trophy for the 19th time consecutively. Praising the principal, Gupta and his team, Shingla said under their able guidance, the students had made the college proud.

Principal Gupta said the students had given a Diwali gift to all of them by winning the trophy.

Meenakshi Chaudhary, in-charge, cultural department, said the teams had participated in 42 disciplines and they got the first prize in 15 disciplines and second in 19.

The college team won the first prize in Haryanvi group dance, Haryanvi orchestra, group song (general), light vocal (Indian), on-the-spot painting, group dance (general), solo dance (Haryanvi-male), folk instrumental Haryanvi-solo, mime, Sanskrit speech, on-the-spot photography, western instrumental solo and western vocal solo. Meanwhile, the college teams won the second prize in Haryanvi ‘loor’ dance, rituals, Haryanvi pop song, classical dance (solo), folk song general, classical vocal-solo, poster making, mehndi contest, Haryanvi ‘rasiya’ group dance, Haryanvi skit, one act play, Haryanvi group song, instrumental solo, Haryanvi song, debate, cartooning, collage making, rangoli making and western group song.
