Anti-stubble burning measures show results, cases dip by 39%
Joint efforts by various departments, stringent action against farmers, including red entries in their agricultural record as well as the registration of FIRs and arrest, along with adoption of stubble management practices, Haryana has witnessed a significant fall in stubble-burning cases.
So far, the state has recorded a decrease of nearly 39 per cent cases compared to the last year. From September 15 to November 4, the state has recorded 857 active fire locations, the number was 1,405 in the corresponding period last year. In 2022, it was 2,440 and in 2021 it was 3,666, the data said.
The state recorded no case of active fire across the state on Monday. With 158 cases, Kaithal district leads the farm fires tally, followed by Kurukshetra (129), Karnal (82) Ambala (78), Jind and Fatehabad (67 cases each), Sonepat (45), Faridabad (38), Palwal (36), Sonepat (35), Yamunanagar (34), Panipat (31) and Hisar (23). Authorities of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department claimed that the steps taken by the department contributed a lot in checking the cases of stubble burning.
Jagmander Nain, Joint Director, Agriculture, said they had so far registered 208 FIRs against the violating farmers. Besides, red entries have been made in the Meri Fasal, Mera Byora portal of 569 farmers, which restrict them from selling their crop through e-kharid for two consecutive seasons.
