The enforcement wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) intensified its drive against illegal encroachments upon government land and carried out demolition drives on the MG road, Sohna road, Fazilpur road and the Ghasola road on Monday.

This was part of the ongoing anti-encroachment drives led by GMDA over the past 10 days, during which major GMDA roads and greenbelts in Gurugram have been cleared of encroachments.

The drive was also conducted in accordance with the directions issued by the Chief Executive Officer of GMDA to clear the master roads, footpaths and green belts under the jurisdiction of the authority in order to enhance its utility and further develop them for beautification of Gurugram city.

The drive, which was led by District Town Planner, GMDA, RS Batth, started from the MG road. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram actively supported the drive and 27 unauthorised carts were removed from the MG road. The traffic police accompanied the GMDA team in the drive and issued 62 challans of wrong parking as well as towed away eight cars that were causing traffic congestion.

The GMDA’s enforcement team in the evening proceeded towards Sohna Road to continue its action against encroachments on this pivotal stretch of the city. The public present during the drive also submitted its request to the DTP, GMDA, to inspect the entry points of the Fazilpur road and the Ghasola road among other key points on the Sohna road.

The team removed the extended illegal sitting areas created by the eateries and rehris that were encroaching the public places on the Sohna road. He also requested all vendors to clear the area and revalidate their lapsed permissions, failing which the roadside carts would be removed.
