Anil Vij stresses need for resolution of SYL issue during Sirsa visit
Haryana's Transport, Energy and Labour Minister Anil Vij spoke about the ongoing SYL canal dispute with Punjab and the demand for Hindi-speaking areas during his visit to Sirsa on Friday.
He emphasised that both issues were crucial for the state’s future. "As long as Haryana doesn’t get its share of Hindi-speaking regions, the Haryana Assembly will remain in Chandigarh," Vij said. He further added that if Haryana were to secure its rightful share of SYL water and Hindi-speaking areas, the state could, with the Central Government's help, consider building a new capital. Vij was addressing the media after the District Public Grievance and Redressal Committee’s monthly meeting at the local Panchayat Bhawan on Friday.
Regarding the question of the Congress choosing a leader for the legislative party, Vij remarked that a leader was chosen in parties, not in factions. He pointed out that the main reason for the Congress's defeat in recent elections was Rahul Gandhi's involvement in campaign efforts. "Wherever Rahul Gandhi goes, Congress loses," Vij said, mocking the party's ongoing review of its defeat.
On the subject of roadways, Vij assured the people that outdated buses would be replaced with better alternatives. He instructed officials to ensure that bus stands were cleaned every day, with improvements in sanitation and water facilities. Additionally, he addressed concerns about hanging electric wires, stating that work was already underway to resolve the issue, even if it took time.
Vij also reiterated the government's commitment to making Haryana a drug-free state, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat the rising drug problem in the region.
Vij's visit to Sirsa was heavily monitored, with security personnel deployed throughout the city and preparations made at bus stands and power offices. Despite the extensive arrangements, Vij did not visit any of the offices during his tour, although he noted the visible improvements in cleanliness in the area.
