Ambala DC urges farmers to get permission from Delhi Police
Ahead of the call of Delhi march on December 6, Ambala Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday has appealed to the agitating farmers to obtain the required permissions from Delhi Police, else reconsider their decision to march towards Delhi.
SKM (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha had given the call of march towards Delhi on December 6, from Shambhu border, where the farmers have been camping since February.
In a letter/notice issued by Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta to Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher and BKU (Ekta Azad) Jaswinder Singh, the Ambala DC has asked the farmer leaders to reconsider the decision of Delhi march and take any further call after getting permission from the Delhi police.
In the letter, the DC has mentioned that the Supreme Court has issued directions of status quo at Shambhu border to avoid any untoward incident and both the parties have been appealed to get the matter resolved through dialogue. A committee formed by the Supreme Court is holding discussions with all the parties.
The letter further reads, “Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (previously Section 144 of the CrPC) is already in force in Ambala and there is a restriction on the gathering of five or more people at one place. To organise any protest march, the farmers need to obtain the required permission through proper channel. The farmers are appealed to reconsider their decision of going towards Delhi on foot, and take any further call after getting permission from the Delhi Police, else cancel the call in order to maintain the law and order situation.”
Ambala SP Surinder Singh Bhoria said: “The farmers are being urged to get the required permission for the march and if they get the permissions, they can intimate the administration so that arrangements could be made. There is status quo from the Supreme Court as well, and appropriate steps will be taken to maintain the law and order situation.”
Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said “We have appealed to the farmers to get required permissions from Delhi before the march. All the precautionary and preventive measures will be taken to maintain the peaceful situation in Ambala.”
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) spokesman Tejveer Singh said “The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab is functioning on the directions of Central Government. Earlier, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was detained and now the Haryana Government employees have pasted a notice at Shambhu morcha which is situated under the jurisdiction of Punjab. The Punjab government should clear its stand. If the permission is to be obtained from Delhi police, then let the Delhi police itself stop the farmers. The Haryana police should let the farmers go peacefully.”
