Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar visited flood-affected areas in Sadhaura block of Yamunanagar district on Wednesday.

During his visit, he instructed officials of the Irrigation Department to repair the embankment that broke due to excess water in the Somb river, causing flooding in Sadhaura last week.

In the flood-affected Khanuwala and Chintpur villages, he met affected people and assured them that the government would provide all possible help to people for the damage caused by the flood water.

He said the report of flood-affected agriculture fields (crop damage) had been sent to the government to initiate the compensation process for farmers.

“The government will provide all possible help to the flood-affected people to compensate them for damaged crops, houses and other losses,” said Gujjar. He said the repair work of the river embankment was in full swing.

“Two earth-moving machines were installed to repair the damaged embankment. Now, three more machines have been pressed into service to finish the soil work as early as possible. Thereafter the work to instal studs would be undertaken,” said Kanwar Pal Gujjar.

Bilaspur SDM Devender Sharma, Superintending Engineer of Irrigation Department Ravi Shankar Mittal, Executive Engineer Sandeep Kumar and other officers of the local administration were also present.
