The Uchana seat, headed for a keen contest between the dynasties represented by Congress leader Birender Singh and JJP leader Dushyant Chautala, is all set to be spiced up further with INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala likely to throw his hat in the ring from the segment.

Sources said Abhay, an MLA from Ellenabad, was likely to file his papers from Uchana on September 12, the last day of nominations. A Jat-dominated seat, this Assembly seat has mostly been held by senior Congress leader and former union Minister Birender’s Singh family.

While he has been elected MLA five times from here, his wife, Prem Lata Singh, was elected in 2014 as the BJP candidate by defeating then INLD nominee Dushyant by a margin of 7,480 votes. However, she lost to Dushyant, who fought on the JJP ticket, in the 2019 poll. Ahead of the LS poll, Birender and his son Brijendra Singh switched to the Congress which has fielded him from Uchana.
