AAP faces revolt in Rohtak, state joint secretary Loveleen Tuteja joins Congress

The Congress today got a shot in the arm with AAP state joint secretary Loveleen Tuteja and his supporters joining the party in the presence of a former CM, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra.

Belonging to the Punjabi community, Tuteja was an aspirant from Rohtak, but the AAP fielded Bijendra Hooda. Rohtak is dominated by Punjabis and Tuteja's entry could help the Congress get a share in the community vote bank.

Tuteja has been flagging local issues by organising protests. He was placed under 'house arrest' by the police many times in the past one year to prevent him from holding protests during the CM's visits.

Talking to the media, Tuteja said he was in politics to flag issues like shortage of potable water, sewer overflow, waterlogging and discrepancies in property IDs and Parivar Pehchan Patra.

“Since the Congress has also been raising the same issues, I have joined the party, keeping in view public interest. The Congress has given the guarantee to redress all public grievances on coming to power, so I will work with full dedication to ensure the victory of MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra from Rohtak,” he said.

He claimed that Hooda had worked to ensure the overall development of all regions of the state when he led the Congress government. “Since public issues are on Hooda’s priority list, it is my duty to support him in public interest,” he said.
