970 boxes of illegal liquor seized in Panipat, 2 held

As many as 970 boxes of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) were recovered from a truck on Chautala road here on Thursday night. The liquor was being smuggled from Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh to Bihar. The police arrested two persons.
CIA-3 Incharge Deepak Kumar said a team was patrolling Chautala road when they received a tip-off regarding a truck bearing a UP registration plate, laden with illegal liquor, being parked on the road. Following the tip, the team reached the spot and found two persons in the. They were identified as Subodh Kumar and Sachin Kumar of Vaishali in Bihar.
The truck was covered with the bags of limestone powder to conceal the liquor.
A total of 970 boxes including – 9,600 quarter bottles in 200 boxes, 9,360 half bottles in 390 boxes and 4,560 bottles of liquor in 380 boxes with the brand mark Black Tiger – were recovered.
Inspector Deepak Kumar further said the accused disclosed that a resident of Vaishali had sent them to Paonta Sahib to bring the liquor. He gave them Rs 10,000 each for the work.
The Sector 29 police have registered a case. Investigation Officer Subhash Chander said they were produced in a court on Saturday which sent them to a seven-day police remand.
