In Sirsa, cyber fraudsters used Telegram App to lure victims with promises of high profits in exchange for completing tasks, leading to a Rs 30 lakh scam. The Cyber Police arrested one of the suspects, Roop Singh from Abohar, Punjab, on Monday night.

The case dates back to January 2023, when Amardeep Singh, a resident of HUDA Sector, was added to a Telegram group by scammers who persuaded him to invest in fake tasks for massive returns. After transferring Rs 30 lakh, he realised he had been deceived and reported the fraud.

So far, the police have arrested eight individuals involved in this scheme. The latest arrest, Roop Singh, is accused of defrauding Rs 9.5 lakh and was presented in court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
