As many as 9.36 lakh voters will decide the fate of 42 candidates contesting elections in all four constituencies — Panipat Urban, Panipat Rural, Israna (reserved) and Samalkha of the district on Saturday. Polling parties, along with EVMs and VVPATs, reached their polling stations on Friday.

A total of 9,36, 251 voters, including 4,97,826 males, 4,38,408 female and 17 transgender, will cast their votes to elect their representatives from the four Assembly segments. As many as 912 polling booths have been set up in the four constituencies.

According to data, a total of 2,89,385 voters, including 1,54,567 males and 1,34,813 females, in the Panipat Rural Assembly constituency would decide the fate of 12 candidates; 2,34,020 voters, including 1,23,795 males and 1,10,217 females, in the Panipat Urban constituency will decide the fate of 13 candidates; 1,83,606 voters, including 97,326 males and 86,277 females, in the Israna constituency will decide the fate of nine candidates; while 2,29,240 voters, including 1,22,138 males and 1,07,101 females, voters in the Samalkha constituency will decide the fate of eight candidates on Saturday.

District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Virender Kumar Dahiya said a total of 912 polling booths, including 393 in the urban areas, had been established. DC Dahiya said 270 booths had been set up in Panipat Rural, 211 in Panipat Urban, 199 booths in the Israna (Reserve) constituency, while 232 polling booths had been established in the Samalkha constituency.

The DC said a total of 75 vulnerable polling booths, including 24 polling stations in Panipat Rural, 10 in Panipat Urban, 19 in Israna and 32 vulnerable polling stations are in the Samalkha constituency.

As many as 156 critical polling stations, including 37 polling stations in Panipat Rural, 25 in Panipat Urban, 35 in Israna and 59 in the Samalkha constituency, have been identified.
