8 sentenced to life in Hisar's double murder case

A Hisar court today awarded life term to eight persons, including four brothers, who were convicted in a double murder case in Roshankhera village of Hisar district in July 27, 2016. The court also sentenced two persons from the opposite group for three years and one year jail term in the same incident as there was a cross-case from both the sides.

The incident occurred about eight years ago when a scuffle over some tussle turned violent and two persons Baljeet and Dalbir were killed with sharp-edged weapons. The police booked eight persons in the double murder case and also registered a case against the members of the opposite faction for assault.

Additional District Judge Gagandeep Mittal convicted four brothers Ajmer, Kulbir, Virender and Samunder, two other brothers Bedharak and Karamveer, Sonu and Nitin in the case, and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

At the same time, a cross-case was also registered against the opposite group in the same matter. The court sentenced Vikas to three-years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. Sushil was also sentenced to one-year jail with a fine of Rs 5,000. Three other accused Bijender, Sanjay and Narender were released on probation.

Roshankheda resident Wazir Singh had alleged in his complaint that he was at his brother Baljeet's house when 15-20 people attacked him. They entered the house and attacked Baljeet, Balbir, Dalbir, Sunil, Sunita, Naveen, Neha and Nancy and others with sharp weapons. Baljeet died on the spot after suffering serious, while the injured Dalbir died two days later during treatment.
