A group of unidentified car-borne miscreants reportedly looted Rs 6.50 lakh from a liquor contractor at gunpoint when the latter was sitting in his office near Kasaula Chowk on Monday evening.

They fled the spot after perpetrating the crime while the police have started investigation after registering a case on the complaint of the liquor contractor Pawan in this respect.

Pawan has his office adjacent to his liquor shop near Kasola Chowk. His other liquor shops are located at other parts of the town. He collects money from other shops in the evening and bring them to his office to maintain the account.

On Monday, he reached the office after collecting cash from all his liquor shops. Pawan claimed that three luxury cars stopped outside his office and more than 10 persons came out of these vehicles. They barged into his office and looted Rs 6.50 lakh from him at gunpoint before fleeing from the spot in their cars. The miscreants also manhandled Pawan.

On getting information, the Kasual police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. In his complaint, Pawan has named two persons claiming that the crime was perpetrated on the behest of them.

The police are scanning the CCTV footage to identify the accused. No arrest was made till the filing of the report.
