Sonepat, February 18
A total of 5,000 LED lights and 1,182 Tiranga fancy lights will soon illuminate the main roads of the city. The Sonepat Municipal Corporation (MC) has allotted a tender of Rs 2.36 crore for this purpose.
Earlier, the MC had installed 650 LED lights and 1,100 Tricolour fancy lights on the main entry roads connected to the city in the first phase of the beautification project.
The MC Sonepat had conducted the survey for the installation of the streetlights in the civic body area around three years ago and identified the black spots where the streetlights were required. The survey agency had given a proposal to install around 22,000 streetlights in various streets, including 5,000 black spots in the city and submitted a proposal to the government.
In the first phase, the MC had installed 650 LED lights and 1,100 Tricolour streetlights on the main entry roads which connected to the city, including the Murthal road, Bahalgarh road, Jahri road, Mehlana road, Narela-Rathdhana road, Gohana road, Kalupur road, Badwasni road and in Sector 14 and Sector 15 etc.
The MC has now started working in the second phase of the beautification project and decided to cover the main outer black spots of the city.
As per the sources, the streetlights would be installed on the Kakroi road, Gohana road, Gohana road bypass, the new bypass from the NH-44 to Sonepat as these are the black spots which plunged into darkness after the sunset.
Apart from this, 160 new poles would also be installed on the roads to reduce the span between the lights so that the focus of the lights would be increased. The MC has also identified the area in the colonies which have to be beautified with the fancy lights. Vishram Kumar Meena said the MC was going to beautify the roads with streetlights and Tiranga lights in three phases.
A target has been fixed to complete the phase 2 work up to March 15, the commissioner said. After the completion of the second phase, the installation of the streetlights would be started in the recently approved colonies in the third phase, the Commissioner said.
