On Diwali (Thursday) night, a total of 57 incidents of fire were reported from different parts of the city due to the bursting of crackers.

Eight injured

Eight people suffered burn injuries due to firecrackers, out of whom three were referred to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Five are undergoing treatment in the Civil Hospital. While most of the fires were reported from garbage, incidents were also reported from two houses, a warehouse, a mother dairy booth and a salon. Six vehicles were also gutted in the fires.

To control the fire, vehicles and fire brigade personnel of Gurugram’s fire stations kept running from one place to the other throughout the night. There were no reports of loss of life but property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed in the fires.

It may be noted that last year, during Diwali, 11 places reported fire incidents, which included cars and many houses. Whereas in the year 2022, there was arson at 19 places on Diwali night.

According to the report of the Fire Department, arson was reported at 57 places on Diwali night. At 30 of these places, fire broke out due to sparks of firecrackers falling in garbage and junk.”To control the incidents of arson in time, vehicles were deployed at ten places. On Diwali night, 57 calls were received related to arson. Most of the fire was in garbage and junk, the teams brought the fire under control in a timely manner. There were no casualties in the fire incidents”, said Gulshan Kalra, Deputy Director, Fire Department.

After receiving the information, the fire brigade vehicles reached the spot in an average time of 10 to 15 minutes and the fire was brought under control.

Fire broke out in an electric transformer in Madanpuri. Besides, a parked truck caught fire at IMT Manesar while a car caught fire in Sushant Lok Phase-1. A tempo caught fire near Samaspur village in Sector 51. A bike and a vehicle also caught fire in the Sector 28 area.

Fire also broke out in the chimney of the Radison Hotel on Delhi Road. Apart from a warehouse in Kankrola village, fire damaged a Mother Dairy booth in Sector 43. Eight people reached the civil hospital in a burnt condition. Three patients with more than 30 percent burns were referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Five persons are undergoing treatment in the civil hospital.
